Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy.

The Israelites actually made sacrifices on the alter to show their gratitude to the Lord. Because of the new covenant, we are not required to make this type of sacrifice, but the Bible still makes it plain that we are to offer God our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving.
